The New 2018 Porsche 911 GTS

When a Porsche wears the GTS badge, there is something that will evoke the deepest emotions.

It is an adrenalin inducing badge. It is one that has its roots on the track, but made for the street. It is seen with center locking wheels, black trim, and a more driver-focused interior – all pointing to its motorsports roots. And, yet, a Porsche GTS can make canyon roads seem like kid’s play. It would also make the run to the beach like any other – expect for some excitement along the way.

The ultimate expression of the GTS badge is now on the ultimate expression of the Porsche badge – the 911.

For those who might not be ready for a GT3 or GT2, the 911 GTS is absolutely perfect. Perfect in the combination of track breeding and street smarts. It starts with a 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged flat-six that has been uprated to 450 horsepower with 405 pound-feet of torque. There is a choice of a seven-speed manual or seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. A 911 Carrera 4 GTS with the PDK transmission and standard Sport Chrono Package was clocked 0-60 MPH in just 3.4 seconds. A 911 Carrera GTS with a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive had a top speed of 193 MPH.

Each 911 GTS wears 20-inch, center locking black wheels shod with ultra high performance tires, measuring at 245 /35 ZR 20 up front, 305/30 ZR 20 in the rear. Rear-wheel drive is on Carrera models, with available all-wheel drive. Targa models only come in all-wheel drive. GTS models wear more aggressive suspension, braking and steering components for track-inspired handling characteristics. The rear suspension is set wider than the average Carrera 4 model for all GTS variants. The Porsche Active Suspension Module (PASM) Sport system is standard on 911 Carrera GTS and 911 Carrera 4 GTS coupes, providing a lower ride height overall, than the PASM suspension on other 911 GTS models.

The driver and the front passenger seat on Porsche Sport Seats Plus wearing a combination of leather and Alcantara. Alcantara also is worn on the standard GT steering wheel, center console and armrests. Through the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, one can use the Porsche Track Precision app on a smartphone tethered through the touchscreen infotainment system.

The new 2018 911 GTS comes in Carrera coupe and cabriolet, as well as the Targa. Pricing starts at $120,700 for a 911 Carrera GTS coupe.
